An online introductory meeting where the KITcube mobile facility for advanced atmospheric measurements will be presented. This session marks the first step toward planning a comprehensive field campaign in Israel under the MedWorld consortium, funded by the Israeli Committee for Planning and Budgeting and led by the Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University.
The presentation will be delivered by experts from KIT–IMK-TRO, including:
Prof. Dr. Peter Knippertz (Head of IMK-TRO),
Dr. Andreas Wieser (KITcube system leader),
Dr. Philipp Gasch (airborne Cessna measurements),
Dr. Annika Oertel (data assimilation), and
Dr. Jan Handwerker (boundary layer and convective systems)
who will introduce the KITcube platform, highlight complementary observational and modelling components, and share insights from previous deployments.
This meeting will serve as the starting point for collaboratively defining the scientific priorities, observational strategies, and logistical framework for the planned full-field campaign in Israel. We warmly encourage participation from researchers, students, stakeholders, and industry partners interested in atmospheric observations, climate dynamics, environmental monitoring, and related fields. Your input at this early stage is crucial for shaping the scientific and societal outcomes of the campaign.
